Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to systematically review and evaluate the effectiveness of fall prevention programs for stroke patients using a meta-analysis. Methods: Systematic literature search was conducted for studies published between January 1, 2000, and October 31, 2024, following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. Of the 25 studies included in the systematic review, 20 were analyzed in the meta-analysis. The quality of randomized controlled trials was assessed using RoB 2.0, while non-randomized studies were evaluated using ROBINS-I. Comprehensive Meta-Analysis 4.0 software was used to calculate effect sizes (odds ratios, OR), heterogeneity (I² statistics), and publication bias. Subgroup analyses, funnel plots, Egger’s regression, and the Trim-and-Fill method were performed to assess bias. Results: The meta-analysis showed that fall prevention programs significantly reduced fall incidence among stroke patients, with an OR of 1.362 (95% CI: 1.13~1.64, p=.001). These programs also improved balance and gait. Subgroup analysis showed that rehabilitation and exercise programs had the strongest impact, while educational and assistive device-based programs showed moderate benefits. Conclusion: Fall prevention programs are effective in reducing falls and improving physical function in stroke patients. However, outcomes vary depending on program type and participant characteristics. In nursing practice, this highlights the importance of personalized, multidisciplinary strategies. Nurses play a key role in fall risk assessment, patient education, and intervention planning. Implementing evidence-based, structured fall prevention interventions in nursing care can improve patient safety, promote functional recovery, and enhance quality of life after stroke.

Abstract
Purpose: With the aging population and increasing number of elderly patients, the importance of geriatric nursing practice has become more pronounced. This study aimed to investigate the effects of geriatric nursing stress, empathy, and communication skills on geriatric nursing practice among nurses at a tertiary hospital. Methods: The participants were 156 nurses employed at a university-affiliated hospital in Seoul, and Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Data collection was conducted from March 4 to March 17, 2025, using validated Google form self-report questionnaires to assess geriatric nursing stress, empathy, communication skills, and geriatric nursing practice. Data were analyzed using SPSS 29.0, employing independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Multiple regression analysis revealed that the overall model was significant and explained 38.1% of the variance in geriatric nursing practice. Empathy, communication skills, and current position were significant predictors of geriatric nursing practice. Conclusion: These findings suggest that enhancing empathy and communication skills among tertiary hospital nurses is essential for improving geriatric nursing practice. To achieve this, it is necessary to change nurses’ own perceptions of geriatric patients and to actively implement geriatric nursing strategies.

Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to synthesize research on the life adaptation experiences of older adults living alone in Korea during the COVID-19 pandemic, using Roy’s four adaptive modes―physiological-physical, self-concept, role function, and interdependence―as the analytical framework. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was performed from July 4 to July 21, 2025, across nine electronic databases, including four domestic (Research Information Sharing Service, ScienceOn, Koreanstudies Information Service System, Data Base Periodical Information Academic) and five international (PubMed, Web of Science, SCOPUS, CINAHL, and Embase) databases, without publication date restrictions. Of the 1,176 articles initially identified, five met the inclusion criteria. A qualitative meta-synthesis was conducted using Thomas and Harden’s thematic synthesis approach, involving three stages: coding primary study data, developing descriptive themes, and generating analytical (catalytic) themes. Results: Four themes, eight subthemes, and twenty-four codes were identified: (1) minimal efforts to preserve oneself amid bodily decline, (2) sustaining daily life between resignation and compliance, (3) reframing roles amid a constrained daily life, and (4) connections to the outside world within a confined life.’ Conclusion: These results provide a deeper understanding of how older adults living alone adapted to life during the pandemic. The findings offer evidence to inform future research and policy development aimed at enhancing resilience, adaptation, and well-being among this vulnerable population.
Purpose: Preceptors and newly graduated nurses (NGNs) form close professional relationships during preceptorship, influencing each other’s job satisfaction. This study examines the actor-partner effects of job stress, nursing professionalism, and burnout on job satisfaction among preceptor-NGN pairs using the actor-partner interdependence model analysis. Methods: A total of 108 preceptor-NGN dyads (216 participants) were recruited from hospitals implementing preceptorship programs. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using the actor-partner interdependence model analysis to explore both actor and partner effects. Results: Job stress and nursing professionalism have shown partner effects. Nursing professionalism played a mediating role on burnout and job satisfaction for both preceptors and NGNs. Conclusion: The findings highlight the mutual influence between preceptors and NGNs, emphasizing the importance of dyadic perspectives in improving job satisfaction. Enhancing nursing professionalism may mitigate burnout and promote job satisfaction among both preceptors and NGN during the preceptorship period.

Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the psychological and physical factors influencing parenting stress among postpartum women. Methods: This study was a secondary analysis of longitudinal data collected up to 6 months postpartum from 318 women in their third trimester of pregnancy who visited the outpatient clinics for prenatal care at two women’s specialty hospitals in the Busan area. The first data collection began in March 2023. A total of 149 participants who completed surveys at both time points were included: 4-6 weeks postpartum (measuring postpartum depression, postpartum post-traumatic stress disorder, resilience, and women’s health status) and 6 months postpartum (measuring parenting stress). Data were analyzed using t-tests, chi-square tests, and multiple linear regression analysis. Results: The mean parenting stress score was 5.35 out of 10. Factors significantly influencing parenting stress were postpartum depression, resilience, and maternal health status. Specifically, lower postpartum depression, higher resilience, and better maternal health status were associated with lower levels of parenting stress. Conclusion: The findings indicate that alleviating postpartum depression, enhancing resilience, and maintaining good health status are essential to reducing parenting stress. Therefore, healthcare professionals should perform early screening and continuous management of postpartum depression from the early postpartum period, provide education and support to strengthen resilience, and encourage participation in postpartum education and social support programs to promote good health status.

Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to explore the meanings of uterine and ovarian disease experiences among young unmarried women and to understand how these experiences influence their identity, psychological well-being, and social relationships within a sociocultural context. Methods: A qualitative content analysis was conducted with seven unmarried women aged 20-39 who had been diagnosed with a uterine or ovarian disease for at least one year. Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews and analyzed using Hsieh and Shannon’s conventional content analysis approach to identify key themes and categories. Results: Data analysis yielded 27 codes, 11 subcategories, and 3 main categories: “living with a strange body that appeared without warning,” “wanting treatment but finding obstetrics and gynecology difficult to approach,” and “overcoming strangeness and reconstructing life.” Participants initially experienced confusion and distrust toward their bodies, perceiving illness as an unfamiliar disruption. They faced psychological and sociocultural barriers to seeking gynecological care due to stigma and discomfort but gradually accepted their condition and sought balance through self-care and social support. These findings indicate that young women’s reproductive health experiences extend beyond physical symptoms to encompass identity reconstruction and psychological adaptation. Conclusion: Nursing interventions should address not only symptom management but also identity restoration, emotional support, and stigma reduction. Enhancing healthcare providers’ gender sensitivity and communication skills, as well as facilitating peer-support networks, may promote psychological safety and resilience among young women with reproductive health conditions.

Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to examine the level of embitterment and to identify its influencing factors, focusing on workplace incivility, organizational justice, and resilience among hospital nurses in South Korea. Methods: A cross-sectional correlational design was employed with 200 hospital nurses who had at least one year of clinical experience. Data were collected via an online self-administered questionnaire between April 12 and 19, 2024. The instruments used were the Korean version of the Post-Traumatic Embitterment Disorder Self-Rating Scale, the Nursing Incivility Scale, the Organizational Justice Scale, and the Korean version of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square test, independent t-tests, and binomial logistic regression. Results: The mean embitterment score was 1.77 (SD = 0.89), and 56.0% of participants were classified into the embitterment group. Among the subdomains of incivility, incivility from doctor recorded the highest scores. Logistic regression analysis indicated that incivility was a significant predictor of embitterment. Although organizational justice and resilience differed significantly between groups, they were not significant predictors in the final model. Conclusion: Embitterment was highly prevalent among hospital nurses and was strongly associated with workplace incivility, particularly from patients and caregivers. These findings underscore the need for organizational strategies to cultivate a respectful workplace culture, establish reporting and support systems for incivility, and strengthen nurses’ emotional resilience through structured training and ethical leadership initiatives.
