There were significant positive relationships between age and clinical career (r=.78; p<.001), self-efficacy and empathy (r=.33; p<.001) and empathy and nursing care of older adults (r=.25; p<.001). The quality of nursing care of older adults were significantly different according to working experience in psychiatric unit (p=.021). Influencing factor of nursing care of older adults was empathy (ß=.29; p<.001), which explained 30% of the variance. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicated that attention should be given to empathy of nursing care of older adults and numerous efforts should be made to improve nurses’ empathy for quality elderly care.

Abstract
Purpose: This study investigated the factors influencing sleep quality in adults according to age groups. The escriptive study was conducted in metropolitan areas of South Korea to control for possible sleep differences between adults living in rural areas and those living in cities. Participants were 450 adults between 19 and 65 years old. Methods: Self-administered questionnaires consisting of including the Korean Modified Sleep Leeds Evaluation Questionnaire, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire and the Perceived Stress Scale were used to assess the quality of adults’ sleep. Results: Sleep quality was poor across the all age groups Stress and subjective health status were influencing factors of sleep quality among participants in their 20s; subjective health status and circadian rhythm (evening-type) were influencing factors of those in their 30s; subjective health status, alcohol consumption, and work days of less than 8 hours were influencing factors among participants in their 40s; and stress, circadian rhythm (evening-type), subjective health status, work days of over 11 hours, past smoking habit, and light physical activity were influencing factors of those aged 50 years and over. Conclusion: The quality of sleep was low across the all adult age groups in South Korea. Although the factors influencing quality of sleep differed by age groups, they in general indicate the need to focus on maintaining and controlling health status in sleep interventions.

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this methodological study was to examine the validity and reliability of a translated Korean version of Templer’s death anxiety scale among older adults. Methods: The translated Korean scale was administered to 203 older people who aged over 65 years. Exploratory factor analysis was utilized to assess the factor structure of the scale. Internal consistency of the scale was determined using Cronbach’s α and Guttman’s split-half coefficient. Results: Factor loadings of the scale ranged from .43 to .86. The scale showed good internal consistencies of both total scale (13 items, α=.83) and three sub-scales: meaning of death (6 items, α=.77), death-related event (5 items, α=.72), and time of death (2 items, α=.80). The concurrent validity compare with Fear of Death Scale was significant. The Cronbach’s alpha and Guttman’s split-half coefficient were .83 and .80, respectively. Conclusion: The findings of this study demonstrate that the Korean version of Templer’s death anxiety scale had satisfactory validity and reliability to measure death anxiety among Korean older people.

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors that affect care left undone among newly graduated nurses. Methods: Participants were 236 newly graduated nurses with less than 1 year of experience from 5 general hospitals in Busan. Self-report questionnaires were completed by nurses between October and November, 2016. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis with the SPSS/WIN 25.0 Program. Results: The mean score for care left undone was 2.18±1.43. Factors influencing care left undone were monthly income and working environment. Regression analysis showed that working environment and monthly income explained 11.0% of the variance while controlling for participants’ demographics and work characteristics. Conclusion: The findings suggest that better working environment and appropriate monthly income are important to reduce care left undone in hospitals. The quality of nursing and patient safety may be ensured by reducing care left undone.

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the factors influencing intention of intervening towards elder abuse among nurses in the emergency department. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive design was used. A convenience sample of 209 emergency room nurses working in university hospitals and general hospitals completed the questionnaires. Multiple regression analysis was performed to examine predictors of intention of intervening towards elder abuse. Result: Awareness of elder abuse, legal and institutional knowledge, attitude, subjective norm, and self-efficacy were positively correlated to the intention of intervening towards elder abuse. Factors of the intention of intervening towards elder abuse in emergency room nurses were awareness of elder abuse, followed by subjective norm and attitude. Conclusion: The findings suggest that it is necessary to educate emergency room nurses in order to improve awareness and knowledge of elder abuse. From the nursing practice and hospital organization level, specific interventions and strategies to increase the assessment and intervention of elder abuse are needed.
